Recycling Pictures

My mom has recently moved and we are in the process of redecorating.  I asked her if she would like some of my art.  What a great way to pass on decor to others and get a new look for you!  She loved the idea.  I have a ton of art.  My grandmother was an artist and my uncle is a tinsmith.  I took six framed paintings with me to her house today.  We repurposed them, hung them, rearranged lamps and fluffed pillows.  The look is stylish and uplifting in her new place.  I will post pictures next weekend when we finish with the lamps and seating arrangements.  For very little money, she has a new look in her living room, bedroom, and guest bathroom.  Share this idea with others and swap decor.  It's amazing how passing on goods gives new life and happiness to others.

A real sale for lighting

If you have never thought of checking out Lowes Home Improvement for light fixtures, please do.  We just bought beautiful light fixtures for our dining room, kitchen, hallway and entryway.  The best part, they were on clearance and over 60% off.

No fuss pillows

I recently had a conversation with a manager at Crate & Barrel.  I love the store.  I have spent a lot of money at the store both in the kitchen, dining room and living spaces.  Currently we have one of the Marimekko bedding ensembles on our bed.  It wears like iron and I would recommend it hands down.  However, the conversation with the manager was about their pillows.  I love their pillows.  They are bright and colorful and they have a great variety.  The big issue is they are not washable.  Most are spot clean only or dry clean.  My nose wrinkles when I read this on any décor. With two kids and a revolving house of many, spot clean is not practical.  The manager said she didn't realize that.  I suggested she read her tags.  Crate & Barrel is missing a huge market of consumers with items labeled "spot clean only."
